Very informational, not a cookbook

I’ll have to agree with the previous reviewer. This book is great and informational. I love how she broke everything down and made it simple and straight forward. So much so that I bought the digital and physical book.

The recipes leave a lot to be desired. Honestly, I’m not planning on attempting any of them. I have a different source for that. The actual means seem more adventurous than I’m accustomed. And the ingredients aren’t something you can simply pick up at your neighborhood market, or a target… Probably a whole foods/paycheck.

If you’re intesrested in receipes, this isn’t the book for you. If you want to get a run down on the keto diet, This is a great resource.

Good read - useless ebook format

The content (as far as I have read) is great. I like the authors style of writing on the content is what I was looking for. However, the format of the book is locked, so you can’t adjust the font size or highlight text or makes notes. With this type of content you should be able to do more than just read and bookmark pages!! So.... if you are like me and want to actually make references to specific content do NOT buy this iBook.

Good Info. Weird recipes

I enjoyed reading the first half of this book. Vogel is an engaging writer and she breaks down some pretty complex information and makes it accessible. I like her “do what works for you within these parameters” approach. It’s approachable and non-judgemental. After that part of the book, I felt confident that I could make this plan work for me.

Then I read the second half - the part with the food plans and the recipes. I love to cook, but there was only one recipe in the whole book that I found appealing (lamb kabobs). I know she is trying to do a few things with the recipes - make them dairy and grain free, incorporate additional superfoods like collagen and gelatin, include healthier fats like lard - but the end result is so far removed from traditional cooking that it’s not very approachable or appetizing (pork rind pancakes???).

I don’t want to feel that in order to be successful on her plan, I have to go online, lay out $$$ for products that I’ve never heard of, and then start cooking these strange new recipes that, even before I make them, I don't think I’ll like.

One of the things that bugs me about Keto blogs in general are the crazy recipes - bread made from psyllium powder & eggs? Bread made from ground almonds? Pizza crust made ffrom cheese? You just end up eating obscene amounts of nuts, psyllium powder, and cheese.

I was hoping for recipes that would involve simple tweaks to everyday cooking. This isn’t it.
