Customer Reviews
Just not enough here, a big disappointment
I’m not in the habit of writing bad reviews, but 5is is one case where I feel it’s necessary.
I’d read all the Ian Rutledge books and was hungry for more, so took a chance on this short story. It has none of the character aspects and insight that make the books so good, and definitely isn’t worth the price. I realize it’s a vehicle to publicize the three book excerpts included, but there’s little about this story that would make anyone understand why they’d want to read a longer book. Rutledge shows no emotion as he whips through a fairly pedestrian mystery, and his sidekick Hamish doesn’t even make an appearance. Any reader unfamiliar with Rutledge will find their money better spent buying a full book. Any reader familiar will get no satisfaction from this one.
