Publisher Description
It is 2026 and one man, Aiden Hawsley, leader of the National Socialist Party, has now successfully ruled the United Kingdom for over ten years, since his party was swept to power on a manifesto based almost entirely on radical social reorganisation and demographic re-assessment.
In 2015, the Social Registration Act became law, and the government began the construction of high security demarcation walls around the four Primarily Residential Regions of the country; these are renamed as the provinces of Providence, Redemption, Deliverance, and Progression. Residency within a province is strictly controlled, and ultimately determined by the Social Registration Department. Forty million people now live within the walls of P.R. Regions, but another twenty million, who did not pass the residential rights examination, are forced to live outside, in an area, known as the Ghettazone, a lawless, ungoverned wasteland. These people are known as the Glundes.
Twenty five years earlier, long before he ever imagined he would reach this elevated position, Hawsley made one terrible mistake... and in 2023 one woman begins to uncover Hawsley’s secret, something that could turn his dream into a nightmare.
One night the headless body of Dhalia Vingali is found in her apartment in Providence and Inspector Mackenzie Parish is brought back from a virtual reality holiday to solve the murder, but little does he realise that disentangling this web of deceit and lies will ultimately change his life for ever, in fact it already has, but he just doesn’t realise it yet.
He eventually discovers Hawsley’s dark secret, but also discovers more, much more as he uncovers the story of how another murder, over eighty years earlier, of a three year old girl in deepest Russia is directly connected to the murder he is investigating today, and will eventually help him solve the crime.
The true story of how the rape of one woman could change the world.
