Excerpts from the book:
Siyana and Ladomira ran as fast as they could through the forest. Suddenly the witch stopped. She attracted the girl to her and, looking into her eyes, asked:
“Are you sure you want to unite your fate with Lesyar’s?”
“Yes...” Ladomira stammered.
“And you won’t regret it? Won’t you regret that you have to leave your native land?” the witch pressed.
“I won’t regret it,” the girl answered confidently.
“Then let’s go, everything is ready for the wedding...”
Following Ladomira and Siyana, a small fluffy kuksha flew. Finally, she got ahead of them on the approach to the ancient Temple and sat down on the wooden shoulder of the statue of Kupalnitsa in order to observe the upcoming ceremony from above.
Meanwhile, preparations for the wedding were taking place in the Temple of Lada. Zhdana wove wreaths, decorating the heads of the statues of Lada, Lelya and Kupalnitsa with them. At the entrance to the Temple, she spread a long piece of unpainted canvas, symbolizing a bridge — a passage from the World of People to the World of Gods, before whose faces marriage would take place.
While preparing, Zhdana sang an ancient song...

When the yaryzhka appeared in the farm, Vadim was weaving bast shoes. Seeing his relative, he was surprised:
“Has my brother really come? Apparently you need something, since you’ve walked five miles?!”
The yaryzhka laughed.
“So I didn’t come on foot, I came on horseback.”
“I have nothing to treat you with... Don’t be offended...” Vadim immediately showed ‘hospitality’.
“So that’s not what I came for...” the yaryzhka took a leather bag filled with silver coins from his belt and handed it to his brother. “Here, take this, this is for you...”
He grinned, but accepted the bag.
“Just as I knew: you need something! Tell me what you need.”
“I want to get rid of one hunter, his name is Lesyar...”
Vadim laughed.
“Do you need this? The Voivode probably needs this! Only he can give so much silver!”
“So, will you help or not?” the yaryzhka asked. “With this silver you can live comfortably for twenty years...”
Vadim weighed the bag in his hand.
“I’ll help...”
“Then get ready, you will come with me.”
