Opposites attract in this sexy new contemporary romance series from the New York Times bestselling author of The Marriage Contract.
The rebel. That's how Samara Mallick has always thought of Beckett King. And he's absolutely living up to his unpredictable ways when he strides into her office and asks for help after inheriting his father's company. She can't help wondering if it's a legit request or just a ploy to get her into bed. Not that she'd mind either one. After all, she likes to live on the edge too.
But soon the threats to the Kings are mounting, and the two find family secrets darker than they ever imagined and dangerous enough to get them both killed.
"The Last King is an exceptionally well-paced romance full of passion, intrigue, drama and a page-turning plot that kept me reading into the very early hours of the morning." -- Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
What readers are saying about The Last King... "The Last King has everything I love in a book suspense, angst, romance." "If you like your romances steamy with some hate-to-love dynamics, scandalous family feuds and headstrong characters, this is a book for you." "The fire, the angst, the PASSION. The Last King has all that and so, so much more." "An intense, thrilling and passionate read...I couldn't get enough of Beckett and Samara!"
Steamy, Enemies to Lovers Romance
The Last King is the first book in Katee Robert's The Kings series. I have been looking forward to reading this series for a while. I have read and enjoyed many books written by her. The Last King did not disappoint me. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!
The Last King is a steamy, enemies to lovers romance with a little mystery thrown in. The two main characters work for rival companies. Beckett King is the heir to his father’s company. His father and he never really had a good relationship. The King family is known for messed up family relationships. Samara Mallick works for their rival company that is actually owned by Beckett’s aunt. I believe family, the good, the bad, and the ugly, is going to be an important theme in this series. I am so into it.
Beckett is a hunk. I enjoyed every minute being in his mind. He is book boyfriend goals. I love Samara. She has really worked hard to make her single mom proud. She doesn’t want a hero to come save her, but she is her own hero. Beckett and Samara have a very steamy, fun relationship. I can’t wait to get glimpses of them in the other books in the series.
The Last King kicked off this series with a bang. I am already getting excited to dive back into this world with the next book, The Fearless King.
Review: The Kings 1: The Last King
The Last King by Katee Robert is the first book in her brand new series, The Kings . A story of family, feuding, betrayal, danger, redemption & love. A little bit nail-biting and a whole lot sexy, this new series is off to a fabulous start.
Beckett King has his sights set on Samara. A woman completely off-limits. Practically his mortal enemy, but resistance is futile. She is smart, sexy, and is everything he never knew he wanted in a partner.
Samara can't resist Beckett King. She has tried but the more she actually gets to know him the more she realizes he is nothing like his aunt, her boss, and vicious rival to Beckett's company painted him to be. He is a compassionate person not capable of stooping to the level that some of his estranged family members have done.
Page-turning, perfectly paced, told in dual POV and does NOT have a cliffhanger ending. This is Beckett & Samara's story. Loved it! Enjoy!
4 Kingly Stars!
I love this cover! This is not an MC read but our main character does ride a Harley. In fact, Bennett's character was a good mix of motorcycle bad boy and rich corporate suit. They are my favorite types of Hero's.
Bennett just inherited his family company after his father dies in a car accident. There is not a lot of love lost between him and his father, but the accident sounds suspicious. When a series of events start happening soon after, Bennett knows he needs to investigate before he ends up like his father.
Samara is the right hand woman to Lydia King. She's hard working and loyal. She should not give into her attraction to Lydia's nephew, Bennett. He's the son of the enemy and competition to Lydia's company. When Lydia keeps throwing her in the path of Bennett to attain information, she knows she has to be careful or she will be collateral damage between the two powerful family members.
Bennett and Samara have been fighting their mutual attraction from the beginning. Bennett should be concentrating on the suspicious nature of his father's death and the recent change to his will. He should not be caring more about getting Samara to fall for him.
This is a great start to what looks like a new family drama series by Katee Robert. We got introduced to several side characters that will make for a great main character in future books. I'm looking forward to seeing where the author takes this. ARC provided by NetGalley.
