A woman disappears into the dark city night…
Gen is on the verge of a divorce from her cheating husband. When her sister, Meg, has a convention to attend in the Big Apple, she invites Gen along to celebrate her newly found freedom. But the perfect sisters’ getaway quickly goes awry when a tipsy Gen defiantly throws her wedding ring off the hotel room’s balcony. Then, wanting some fresh air, she decides to take a late-evening walk alone and vanishes without a trace.
The investigation that follows uncovers secrets—and betrayals—between sisters and spouses that will twist the truth in on itself until nothing is clear.
What really happened to Gen and who, besides Meg, was the last to see her?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This intriguing tale of love and betrayal from Tate (Such Dark Things) focuses on two outwardly close sisters, each with a big secret: Genevieve, a successful romance writer undergoing a contentious divorce, and Megan, a renowned surgeon with a loving husband and a five-year-old son. After the divorce is finalized, Gen agrees to meet Meg in New York City, where Meg has come for a convention, to celebrate. Late one night, Gen goes out for a walk from their hotel wearing Meg's coat and disappears. It eventually becomes clear that one of the two has set in motion a plan to expose a secret she hopes will harm the other sister. Only the secret is not what she thinks it is, and it may be too late to stop what she has put in motion. The agenda of a character with a family connection to the sisters complicates an already devious plot, and the intertwined secrets slowly emerge as the action builds to a tidy conclusion. Fans of domestic suspense will keep turning the pages to see what happens next.

The Last To See Her
Great Book! I did not expect to end the way it did.
Nonsensical
Started off good and compelling. But, quickly went off the rails. Why would anyone keep a sister hidden ? And, for years not told his wife about her? Bizarre and rather nasty to the sister who was brain damaged? And yet, she manages to fly to New York and save the wife? How does this make sense? And, all of the generalizations of writers and creative people in general ? All creatives are kinda crazy. Excuse me! That’s a cheap plot narrative. The woman is completely NUTS. And everyone in her family knows it and makes excuses for it. When they should have gotten her MENTAL HEALTH CARE. Stupid.
