APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Karin Slaughter’s ninth book starring Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agent Will Trent digs deep into the all-too-real rise of white-supremacist terrorism. While investigating a series of bombings around Atlanta, medical examiner Sara Linton is kidnapped by the assailants, leading her partner, Trent, to go undercover among the violent far right. Once again, Slaughter has created a thriller that whizzes along at runaway-train velocity and blindsides us with unexpected twists. The ripped-from-the-headlines premise makes The Last Widow feel even more urgent—clear your schedule and settle down in your most comfortable chair.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In bestseller Slaughter's harrowing seventh novel featuring Sara Linton and her boyfriend, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent Will Trent (after 2016's The Kept Woman), Sara and Will are visiting her family in the Atlanta suburbs when explosions rock nearby Emory University. As the couple heads toward campus, they encounter a multiple-car accident. Sara stops to offer medical assistance and discovers that one vehicle contains several armed men two with gunshot wounds and a traumatized woman she recognizes as missing CDC epidemiologist Michelle Spivey. After a brutal fight that injures Will, the men take Sara and flee. Will is certain that Sara's kidnappers bombed Emory, and intelligence suggests the men are part of a paramilitary group that's planning something catastrophic. With the clock ticking, Will and his partner, Faith Mitchell, scramble to follow bread crumbs left by a terrified but determined Sara. Vivid characters and rapidly escalating stakes complement the riveting, adrenaline-fueled plot. Along the way, Slaughter examines such topics as misogyny, white nationalism, and the politicization of law enforcement. Thriller fans will devour this visceral, gratifying entry. Author tour.

A good read
Love how this author writes. However this one was a little lengthy in parts and found myself skipping some pages when it got a little wordy. However I have enjoyed watching Will and Sara’s relationship unfold. And with a son with dyslexia as well it’s encouraging seeing a character thrive in the world. I tell my son all the time he can still do anything. So this character gives me hope regardless that it’s a story. Couldn’t put this book down. Read it in 2 days.
Had to force myself to finish.
This book went on and on. All the previous books in this series were very good.
