The Last Wish

A unique and thoroughly enjoyable read from beginning to end. Presents many interesting and fresh takes on fantasy cliches and human nature. The short stories are well written (and translated )for the most part, but occasionally the dialogue and action are hard to follow. Modern words, swears, and phrases are often used which can be immersion breaking for some. All and all an excellent introduction to a very different series.

This book is what I call a rarity. It is not often that I find a book that I read entirely in one single night, and it is a longer book. The book itself inspired an entire video-game series, so needless to say it is one of the best I've read in some time. If you're into ancient mythical times, then look no further.

The plot is fairly complex with both books from this author should you be interested in a second helping, though the read itself is fairly ways to follow. I will be surprised if this book does not create a movie, though casting the right person to play Geralt of rivia should prove to be impossible.

My best opinion for you if you are on the 'I don't know' phase is to grab the sample and just read. I was captivated for the majority of that alone.

I had heard of The Witcher from the games and Netflix show, but never knew much about it other than from those sources. This book is an entertaining introduction to Geralt Of Rivia and the world of the Witcher in general. It’s basically a cross between Monster Hunter and Game of Thrones, with some of the stories focusing more on monster slaying, and others on the politics of the world.

In each story, Geralt finds himself stuck between a rock and hard place and has to fight or think his way out of a situation. He’s a hardened monster hunter but also has enough humanity for you to be interested in his character, which I wasn’t expecting from what I’d seen from the game or show. If you’re even a little curious about this series, I’d recommend you read this, since you’ll probably enjoy it.
