The only girl in a gang of men, Sarah is nothing more than a possession to serve them. She travels with them dressed as a boy, and they treat her as their servant. But when that gang shows up on Tom's ranch, he can instantly see she's worth so much more than anything else. At first, he feels sorry for her, and he offers her what he can without asking anything in return. When he gives her food, she wants to repay his kindness. He objects, not wanting to take advantage of her, but she states that all she wants is chance to be touched in a caring manner. He complies, giving her a late night ride she won't forget. He, in turn, is dazzled and fascinated by her almost primitive touch. He finds that he will do anything he can to keep her with him, even if it means fighting for her.
