What with her new café opening soon, a community center Open House to organize, and a murder to investigate, Cassie has way too many plates in the air ... and at least one of them may be deadly.

Cassie and her best friend and business partner are about to realize their culinary dreams when a murder on their new business's doorstep and a rogue Fae mob threaten everything they've both worked so hard for over the past year.

As a mid-life witch new to the supernatural world, Cassie is still learning—and sometimes failing—but even she can see that other newbies like herself have it worse. When she arrived in Sylvan City, Cassie had a home to go to and friends and family to support her, but others haven't been so fortunate. The good news is that the newbie community center she has dreamed of will open its doors soon, thanks to a little help from her friends. 

With their building's renovation finally complete, Cassie and Flora have mere weeks to hire staff for the café and bakery and to organize volunteers for the community center. Unfortunately, a rogue troop of strange new Fae are causing havoc in the town, which threatens Cassie's plans ... and her best friend's safety.

When Flora discovers one of the rogue Fae dead behind their bakery and another begins harassing her, she uses her Fire magic to protect herself, and things really heat up.

In between getting the business up and running and the community center open, Cassie must investigate things before her SBI Chief soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend locks up her BFF for a murder she didn't commit. Cassie's quirky team of investigators includes a trio of felonious and furry magical Familiars, a snarky undercover mouse, and her ghostly Greenwood gramma, who has a few tricks up her translucent sleeve.

With all those plates in the air, one is bound to fall. If Cassie is lucky, her juggling act won't cost her life.
