Publisher Description

In this third book in the Apostle John series, we take a peep back in time, to 92 AD. Here we see 12 year-old Rachel, an attendant at her cousin’s traditional Jewish wedding. It is here Rachel glimpses Benjamin, great-grandson of the Apostle John for the first time.
Two years and eight months later, Rachel and her mother, Elizabeth, are at the same location for the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles. Elizabeth's baby nephew, the only son of an only son, is found to have a fever… a death sentence in those times. In a donkey and cart, Elizabeth and Rachel make a ‘mercy’ trip to a former servant for a healing mixture, and while they wait, follow the crowd to a meeting conducted by the Apostle John. So begins the crisscrossing of the lives of Rachel, and Elizabeth, with the Apostle John and his great-grandson, Benjamin.
What follows increases the risk for the Jewish woman who had already risked so much with her curiosity about why the Apostle John’s prayer was heard and her younger daughter, Esther, was healed. (Grow in Grace, book 2 in the series.)
The Roman soldiers continue their watch, and their restrictions on the fellowship of the ‘Way’, while the Apostle John works to finish his memories of his time with Jesus Christ, his Cousin, and Savior. Arrested again, briefly this time, he is warned that his property would be forfeit if he was arrested again. Warned by God that he will be taken to Rome, the Apostle John works to finish his account of his time with the Savior and remove all the Scriptures from the family home.
Benjamin is, in part, the cause of ‘Old Simon’s’ granddaughter’s beating, and the saving of her life… just.
This book has many twists, and side-characters, but never loses direction. Some of the background characters in the previous two books move into the spotlight and provide some necessary back-story. New characters arrive, some merely passing through, others taking their place in the story, or setting things up for book 4.

The Continuing Story of Faith & Love among the First Century Christians

The 3rd book in the Apostle John series continues the story of the Apostle John as he hurries to set down his memories of his cousin Jesus Christ in what will become known as the Gospel of John...even as the Roman authorities are getting ever more eager to imprison him and make him an example for not worshipping the Roman emperor. And we start to see the danger Christianity posed to new Jewish converts as we follow Elizabeth and Rachel's stories. In danger of being outcast in their own community, these Jewish women are nonetheless drawn the beliefs of the Christians as a miracle makes them question everything they thought they knew. Will they choose to pursue the truth no matter the cost? A wonderful story and I enjoyed the women's point of view. I am looking forward to Books 4 & 5.
