Armchair Mountain Man ,

Not bad, not quite good.

A good plot. However, the chapters loosely alternate between present time in the book and years earlier. Would have been easier to keep track has everything been presented in sequential order. Some places the tense becomes present, most of the time the writing is in the past tense.
