“There’s nothing semi about Finn Murphy’s trucking tales of The Long Haul.”—Sloane Crosley, Vanity Fair
More than thirty years ago, Finn Murphy dropped out of college to become a long-haul trucker. Since then he’s covered more than a million miles as a mover, packing, loading, hauling people’s belongings all over America. In The Long Haul, Murphy recounts with wit, candor, and charm the America he has seen change over the decades and the poignant, funny, and often haunting stories of the people he encounters on the job.

The long haul
Excellent book, my recent shipper asked if I had read this book, I had not I said I would read it before I got to destination for delivery, my shipper wanted to compare my experience to Finns, I recommend this book too everyone especially Movers not just Long haul but local guys as well, local movers have a tough daily job and Finn put it on point.
Having spent a number of years with Wheaton as an owner contract hauling agent, this book brought back many memories of my days on the road. Finn is the real deal, he has lived the life of a long haul mover and has the wit and humor you need to survive that life.
Well done Finn!! Now get a good long deserved rest.
The Long Haul: A Trucker’s Tales of Life on the Road
One great read! A side of life I had completely missed. If I ever move again, you can believe there will be a cup of coffee and a place to put used Gatorade bottles.
