Love love love. Epic finale.
How beyond excited I was to receive an ARC copy in return for an honest review. I can't even tell you how earth shattering and dream coming true this has been.
Heather Lyons is an author unlike any other. Every single thing she writes, is literally gold. I have read every single one of her books and I can honestly say that there is not one that I did not devour and love.
Her words become a part of you. Her writings become a piece of your heart and soul. Her books are books that I would happily devour over, and over, and over again. And that is saying a lot. My motto is always "I do not have time to reread books, I already have a TBR list that I am going to die with."
The Lost Codex. The ending of a phenomenal and beyond original series that I never wanted to end. This book is beyond bitter sweet. With how things ended in The Forgotten Library, I was dying to know what happened next.
Normally, any Heather Lyons book means I will not be sleeping that night, who can stop reading? But with this book, I found I could not do that. It needed to be savored and drawn out. I was too devastated to know that once the last word on the last page was seen, there would be no more. The stories of Alice, Finn, Victor, Mary and all the rest, have become stories that I want to continue forever. The originality and perfection, unmatched.
But alas, all good things must come to an end. But how can I speak of this book, the finale of such an epic series, without spoiling something? It's always difficult because everything finally is answered, questions we are dying to find out, characters stories completed at last. I find I cannot speak much of this book because it should be experienced in full by the reader. If you have loved every single book thus far, this book will not disappoint. Other than of course, being the ending.
Read this book. You will laugh, you will cry, you will hate and rage and wonder why, but you will love every single second of it. Heather Lyons has become a master of her craft. And she will continue on with magnificent stories after this. But us the reader will forever be wondering about our beloved characters in The Collector's Society. Their story will continue on in other Timelines, this I am sure. But this series, amazing. Fantastic. Epic to epic max. I cannot believe it is over. Thank you, once again, for giving me a ride of a life time. And I look forward to many more.
Heather Lyons has become my North Star as an author. Until next time.
Great Ending to The Collectors’ Society
Words are failing me and I don't even know where to begin to start. The Lost Codex is fast paced, heart wrenching, romantic, and the perfect ending to The Collectors' Society series. Heather Lyons will rip your heart of your chest, break it into a thousand pieces, pick those pieces up and put your heart back together except for maybe one piece because she is an evil genius like that. I'm going to veer away from the plot as it is hard to use quotes or even talk about the plot without possibly ruining the events that unfurl between these pages.
The character development was amazing, even after watching them grow through the previous three books. I didn't think it was possible to love or hate characters even more than what I already did. What was especially delightful was to see some of the secondary characters, such as the AD, at times come into the spotlight and surprise you with just how much their presence adds to the story.
Though it is bittersweet to say goodbye to The Collectors' Society, The Lost Codex was the perfect ending and has quickly become my favorite in the series.
A Phenomenal Ride!
I have waited for what feels like a lifetime to discover all the secrets of The Lost Codex and figure out just how Heather Lyons would bring this tale to an end. Now I’m left with the bittersweet emotion of it being over, while trying to formulate words on what I thought, and honestly, the most prominent in my mind are “what a tremendous ride”. This author has taken readers on incredible journeys of love, adventure, and literary memories that had me grinning wider than the Cheshire Cat would have found possible. The Lost Codex was the most perfect, phenomenal ending and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
We are immediately thrown back into that tense, anxiety-inducing forgotten mountain, and my heart could not stop racing. The way that Lyons has depicted these scenes is so all-consuming that I couldn’t help but get sucked in, incapable of returning to reality. She creates such vivid imagery with colorful language and incredible world-building. It’s unlike anything I have read. Furthermore, it still amazes me that four books in, and the author is able to draw on the qualities in characters that we have previously come to love, yet still deliver her own unique twists. These personalities are largely created by other authors, yet the way that Lyons twists their traits to fit the scenarios is executed perfectly. I don’t want to touch too much upon the happenings of this installment because I wholeheartedly believe that everything that happens and every emotion I experienced should be gone through firsthand.
As I previously stated, The Lost Codex was one of the most bittersweet reads of the year for me, but also one of my favorites. Heather Lyons has created a world that I wish were grounded in reality just so that I had a tangible place to visit and experience. The writing has grown, the twists were unimaginable, and the journey was indescribable. The passion that Heather Lyons has for her characters and this world shines brightly within the pages and it’s something I came to truly appreciate about her. She has produced pure magic with The Collectors’ Society series, and while I’m sad to see it end, I’m also incredibly anxious to see where Lyons’ mind will take readers next!
