The Lowly Donkey

"Power and strength are often two things that lead us on. We fail to see the need for humility and love of God along this path. In her book Sue shows, in a way that only she can, how a little donkey by the name of Hermi brings our Blessed Mother to safety in Bethlehem, and how his offspring, Otto, brings our Savior to Jerusalem, the cross, and our salvation, through humility and love of God." -Sr. M. Bernadette, C.J., AAA, BSM, RN

"The Lowly Donkey allows children to enter into the most important stories of sacred Scripture through an animal of humility and peace." -Very Rev. Eugene P. Ritz

Hermi is a timid donkey whose life is changed when he is asked to do something wonderful for the Holy Family. He realizes he can accomplish big things in small ways. Because of this new determination, he grows certain of himself. His love of giving of himself for his work gives him love in return. In the end, he receives peace and calmness. When we give, we receive ten times what we give.
