The Mad King’s Trials

The first rule of magic is to believe.

In this tale of wizardry the heroes and villains have their faith tested in and with their love, duty, fears, identities, and mortality. Or, the magic uses what it can to master the wizard. 

King Cypranius puts his heart and mind on the line to fill magical artifacts of water to help his country through a drought that has been going on for years. He quickly learns that the drought is an attack. Can he stay sane long enough to find the assailant? 

Duke Bedivere Aldebran, not a human, but a Paladin is charged with keeping the peace between his Marcarian Empire and the country of Kingsway. Can he help them with the drought while dealing with refugees from Kingsway? His son Michael has shown that he could be a prodigy in magic, or if left untaught, Michael could be a danger to everyone around him.

Duke Aldebran and King Cypranius and their friends go their separate ways to find answers, but they deeper they dig the more problems and dangers they find growing in the shadows. After all, the magic is only fully there for those who hold their beliefs through life and death.
