The creatures of Lockett Wood are determined to give a very poor family the best Christmas they have ever had, their plan includes robbing the local toy shop and clothes shop for presents to raiding the supermarket for Christmas fare all ending with hilarious results. Eventually the animals even enrol the local police force into helping them in their endeavour which brings the book to a charming climax portraying the true meaning of Christmas
