The inspiration for the beloved film that became a TikTok sensation

An extraordinary tale of one woman’s journey of resilience, courage, and self-discovery amidst the turmoil of World War II.

Olivia Dunne, a studious minister’s daughter who dreams of becoming an archaeologist, never thought that WWII would affect her quiet life in Denver. But when an exhilarating flirtation reshapes her life, she finds herself in a rural Colorado outpost, married to a man she hardly knows.

Overwhelmed by loneliness, Olivia tentatively tries to establish a new life, finding much-needed friendship and solace in two Japanese-American sisters from a nearby internment camp. When Olivia unwittingly becomes an accomplice to a crime that tests her beliefs about trust and love, she must confront her own desires and reconcile them with the harsh realities of the world around her.

Still waters run deep

This quiet story deftly portrays a young woman's journey to self-acceptance and deeper love.

Beautiful and Believable love story

A great book! It was a little difficult to stay interested through the first few chapters the first time reading but the middle and end did not disappoint! I found myself reading the book again and appreciating the slow but growing love between the main character and her spouse!

Magical storyteller is Ann Creel

After seeing the movie With Skeet Ulrich and Keri Russell as Ray Singleton and Livy, I wanted to discover what the movie left out or changed compared to the book. The book was brilliantly written, though I liked the movie’s happier ending for Rose and Lorelei. Also, I wish Franklin could have been allowed inside the house on freezing nights in the book, since Ray was always saying in the book, “Whatever you want, Livy.” Someone who is cruel to dogs, is often cruel to people.
