Publisher Description
The Marylebone Drop can now be found in the collection called Standing by the Wall: The Collected Slough House Novellas.
A drop, in spook parlance, is the passing on of secret information.
It’s also what happens just before you hit the ground.
Old spooks carry the memory of tradecraft in their bones, and when Solomon Dortmund sees an envelope being passed from one pair of hands to another in a Marylebone café, he knows he’s witnessed more than an innocent encounter. But in relaying his suspicions to John Bachelor, who babysits retired spies like Solly for MI5, he sets in motion a train of events that will alter lives.

A Triple Agent Tale
A tale of three dogs running around in a circle, each one chasing the tail of the dog in front of them. Only not three dogs but the complications of running a triple agent. Wonderful atmosphere as always.
Missed this novella the first time
Loved the novella. Stumbled upon it almost by accident, after reading Joe Country and The Catch. Parts of both of those books made less sense than they should have, because this novella fills in those gaps. iBooks currently doesn’t list this novella as part of the series, but hopefully they will correct that soon.
Where’s the rest of the book?
Albeit a good story (novella), but forty pages?
After reading the first few of the Slough House books I thought this would be a nice short filler. Short. Being the operative word here. Before I purchased it I looked at the page count. It said a hundred some odd pages, a novella. I thought “cool, I can read this in between books”, it might have some Easter Eggs in it.
Where is the rest of the book!?!?
It was only forty pages, with seventeen pages out of “London Rules”. Feels like a bait and switch. I realize, it was only $4 but come on! The publishing company should be ashamed.
