George F. Worts was the author of many beloved series which graced the pages of Argosy such as Vingo, Gillian Hazeltine, Singapore Sammy Shay, and most of all, Peter Moore AKA Peter the Brazen. His best-known work, The Phantom President was turned into a movie in 1932. Writing in a variety of genres, Worts was able to carve out a successful career in the pulps for decades, both under his own name and his preferred pen-name, Loring Brent.
