John Francis Campbell (29 December 1821 – 17 February1885) was a well-known Scottish author and specialized in Celtic studies scholar. He educated at Eton and Edinburgh. Also, he was able to speak Gaelic, Lapp, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Italian, German and Spanish. The most famous published works are Popular Tales of the West Highlands, which include 4 volumes (1860-62), and The Celtic Dragon Myth (1911). 

The Master and his Man is a fairy tale from the third volume of the Popular Tales of the West Highlands. A long time ago there was one master. No one servant wants stay with him till the end of seven years. But one young man wants try. Why does nobody want to work here? Could this boy cope with it?
