Customer Reviews
The Matheson Brothers #1-3
I received a complimentary copy of this group of stories from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
While the author says that you can read the series in any order, I would suggest reading it in order. There is a subplot that continues on. The author does put some “history” at the beginning of the second book but reading the first book in my opinion first, would be best.
Highlander’s Desire - 2 stars
Let me just say that there is a lot of sex. Once it starts, it seems like it doesn't stop. The insta-attraction is shifter romances is something that most authors do. That is fine and a few sexy scenes are okay but not this much. I was hoping for more of a story line.
Also as the story takes place in Scotland, I expected the Scottish brogue. Nope they spoke like we do here in the U.S. Another minus for me was the clothing. She slipped into the heavy dress with it's layers. Nope there were layers but not sewn into the dress. It was a process getting dress back then.
Now I know this is fiction but it would be nice for some authenticity.
Highlander’s Passion - 4 stars
This is the second book of the series. While it is said that you could read in any order, I would highly recommend that they are. The author does a great job of laying the foundation for this book before the first chapter, it is even better to start at the beginning since there is a sub-plot that continues from the first to the second.
This is told in a dual POV format. I love getting both main characters' thoughts throughout the book. It helps me to connect better when I know why things are said and done the way that they are.
This is a sexy book with multiple scenes with a great amount of detail. Not as much as the first book though and there seemed to be more of story involved.
Highlander’s Seduction - 5 stars
This book is the last of the triplets. Kirk finds his mate back in 1290. His mate is a time-traveling fae of love. Cherub (love her name!) is the last of her kind. She is the first-born in the royalty. Her skin sparkles so she chooses to cloak herself as invisible. She can take shape as mist as well. She needs a door or window open at all times so she can leave at will.
To form the mate bond with Cherub, Kirk will become immortal as well as she. That brought a little sadness to me knowing that he would outlive his other two brothers and the power of three triplets would be no more when they eventually perish. Yes, I'm tender-hearted that way as I can't imagine living eternally without my siblings!
This book is written in a multiple POV. The brothers get a small section in this book.
While the author does a great job in laying the foundation of the first two books in the beginning, I really would suggest reading these in order for the best experience.
This is a sexy book in place so a word of warning but unlike the first book which had a LOT of sexy times, this one really had a great story with it.
