I received a complimentary copy of this group of stories from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

While the author says that you can read the series in any order, I would suggest reading it in order. The author does put some “history” at the beginning of each of the books but reading them in order in my opinion, would be best and make for a more enjoyable experience.

Highlander’s Kiss - 3 stars

This story starts out as a good one. I love the fact that the author includes the prior couples. This book is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into the main characters’ thoughts, really help me to better understand them and connect with them.

This can be read with out reading the first three stories but for a better reading experience I would recommend reading them in order.

This is a sexy read. Once the sexiness starts though, it seems like the story goes by the way side a little. I prefer a story with a little less sexy times and more of a story.

Highlander’s Heart - 4 stars

While it is said that you could read in any order, I would highly recommend that they are. The author does a great job of laying the foundation for this book before the first chapter. But the dynamics of the clan and the special fae skills introduced in the prior stories and the different matches will be more easily understood and enjoyed if read in order.

This is told in a dual POV format. I love getting both main characters' thoughts throughout the book. It helps me to connect better when I know why things are said and done the way that they are.

Tor is waiting for the full moon. He has traveled back in time with his brother (Tavish - his story is the one prior to this). Before the sun sets and the full moon can rise, he comes across, Layla. Layla is fae and is betrothed to a MacDonald. She lost her mother at birth. Her parents were soul mates. Seeing how much her father suffers from the loss of his wife, Layla doesn’t want a soul bound mate. Losing one is cause of much suffering and she doesn’t want it. Layla’s father waited 3 years to see if Layla had a soul mate before signing the betrothal agreement.

In a few hours, the bond between Tor and Layla will appear but signs had already started to show their match. Will Layla give up Tor for the MacDonald warrior?! If she does, how does that affect the betrothal agreement between the two clans?

This is a sexy book with multiple scenes.

Now this book was very interesting in that Alec is refusing the mate bond between him and the fae, Annella. Annella fae skill is that of dream-walking. She has visited Alec in his sleep for a month. Of course, Alec insist that she is just a part of his dreams and not real. Annella does come to visit Alec in the future (with the help of Cupid, her story is an earlier one) to help track her brother and father who were abducted by their enemy clan. Alec is the best tracker for the Matheson clan. He comes to help in the search but he is fighting a losing battle in not accepting his mate bond. But he couldn’t live with himself if his vicious bear hurts her.

Will Alec condemn them to a live a miserable life with no mate bond? What will it take for him to give in? Can Annella locate her family through her fae skills? Are her family even still alive? Several other questions arise while reading this book.

This is a very sexy book.
