Fascinating
The second volume of his memoirs this one includes the civil war and the infamous "march to the Sea". As with any memoir the author treats himself with respect and little self-criticism. However, from a factual standpoint, the level of detail is superb. His thoughts on organization of the post war Army and his distaste for political intrigue of Washington are insightful and bear relevance even today. His writing is colorful and exceptionally clear, concise and easy to read. A must read for anyone who wants to gain insight into the man and the times
