Captivating series/author debut
The Money Shot by Anne Dano is a can’t be put down page-turner that’ll leave you hard-pressed to take a break from reading before you’ve turned that last page. I’ve read the different genres this author has written in, I’ve never been disappointed by any of her stories…she is a master at writing stories that are captivating and humorous rom-coms as well as those that are gripping and suspenseful; this story is no different than what I have come to expect, and enjoy in her previous books. With a brilliant quick-witted dialog, and spirited characters bolstering her transformational journey Becca is a women that is not easily forgotten long after her story concludes.
The moment the first page has been turned, a middle-aged, blissfully married Becca burrows in deep and carries you along through her transformation from a stressfully driven, and egocentric career to a more gratifying and tranquil personal and professional life. All the events that transpire between Becca’s old and new normals awaken in her a self-discovery of the emptiness in her marriage and career. The emotional investment Becca creates in the reader has your heart breaking as hers does, and then soaring and cheering for her as she rebuilds what was once an idyllic private and personal life, thus emerging a more self-satisfying version of herself.
My only regret is that Becca’s story ended and I will no longer escape with her to her beach cottage to unwind from life’s hectic pace. Yet her story has left an imprint and smile in my heart.
