Where the universe of Dragons of Babel and Iron Dragon's daughter takes a fantasy world and suffuses it with real world industrial technologies and sensibilities, this new universe of Swanwick's does the converse: remaking an indeterminate but real-world history with a plausible magic. A great tale and I can't wait for more!
