Actress, dancer, and choreographer Garcia takes great pains to bring sensitivity to the audio edition of her memoir recounting the tumultuous events surrounding her courtship with, marriage to, and divorce from pop superstar Prince, who died in 2016. Garcia's narrative tackles the late musician's conversion to the Jehovah's Witness faith and dependence on painkillers, and their tortured experience with tabloid rumors and speculation surrounding the death of their infant son. Gracia tastefully balances candor with a sense of boundaries and propriety related to the most intimate personal details. She offers explanations and insights, but this is not a tell-all celebrity biography. Garcia reads the audiobook in a conversational, but deliberately hushed manner. The pain of Prince's death is apparent throughout, even as she recounts fond memories. The audiobook includes photos from Garcia's and Prince's life together (found on disk seven, in a homage to Prince's hit song devoted to his lucky number). A Hachette hardcover.

Amazingly honest and bittersweet
I was skeptical at first - afraid this was just an attempt to make $$ after the death of Prince - but it was actually a beautiful surprise. I've loved Prince forever but never knew that much about him. This takes you behind the scenes - for better or worse - of the very private sides of Prince. The bittersweet part - when I finished the book it hit me all of a sudden (again) that he really is gone - but the music is forever.
Beautiful Read
A Most Beautiful Read......
I just finished reading The Most Beautiful and I have to say that it was an incredible read. Mayte takes you on a journey that is both fascinating and insightful but at the same time very emotional. I literally couldn't put the book down. I've read two other books on Prince but they deal with his career more so than anything else and while interesting, they didn't really shed any light on his personality. This book does! From start to finish, it is a beautiful read and I was surprised at how much I was drawn into the story. Even for the reader who isn't a diehard fan but perhaps wants to get a glimpse at how Prince operated and thought through things,this book is a great read. I wish it had gone on for longer, but I'll take what I can get.

Phenomenal Woman
This book made me laugh, cry, and feel hopeful for the life God has in store for us all. She tells an amazing story of her one true love, all of her tragic losses, and teaches empowerment to every woman who has been in a similar situation as her. Mayte, you really are The Most Beautiful.
