The Multiplying Church

I was a doctoral student at Fuller Theological Seminary in the late 70’s and early 80’s. It was at a time when the Church Growth Movement was impacting the church at large and I had a front row seat. In fact, I did my doctorate with an emphasis on church growth and pastoral counseling. My dissertation dealt with the role of the demonic in these two disciplines. It was also during this time of study that the Lord directed me to become the pastor ofFirst Assembly of God in Kahului, Maui. (Today it is calledKing’s Cathedral and Chapels) I arrived as pastor the first Sunday of May, 1980. The church was around a hundred people in Sunday morning attendance (80 adults/youth and 20 children), but God had given me a vision to see a massive church arise that would affect the whole island of Maui and beyond. Little did I know how God would do that! This book is the unfolding of God’s plan to develop what I call, The Multiplying Church.
