A couple inherits an apartment with a spine-tingling past in this unputdownable thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six.
Rosie and Chad Lowan are barely making ends meet in New York City when they receive life-changing news: Chad’s late uncle has left them his luxury apartment at the historic Windermere in glamorous Murray Hill. With its prewar elegance and impeccably uniformed doorman, the building is the epitome of old New York charm. One would almost never suspect the dark history lurking behind its perfectly maintained facade.
At first, the building and its eclectic tenants couldn’t feel more welcoming. But as the Lowans settle into their new home, Rosie starts to suspect that there’s more to the Windermere than meets the eye. Why is the doorman ever-present? Why are there cameras everywhere? And why have so many gruesome crimes occurred there throughout the years? When one of the neighbors turns up dead, Rosie must get to the truth about the Windermere before she, too, falls under its dangerous spell.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
A young couple’s dream New York apartment turns into a nightmare in this haunting thriller. Rosie, a published author looking for another hit, and her struggling actor husband, Chad, inherit a too-good-to-be-true apartment in a desirable neighborhood. Their new pad is great inspiration for a true-crime book—there’s been a startling number of crimes in this building—but it might also be hazardous to their health. Suspense superstar Lisa Unger conjures up a spine-shivering modern gothic horror. She makes us care deeply about the sympathetic Rosie and Chad, with their relatable problems and desires for stability and success. And as a creepy building, the Windermere stands alongside classic eerie edifices like Stephen King’s Overlook Hotel and the Bramford Building of Rosemary’s Baby fame. Unger draws us into a labyrinth of unnerving events before bringing it crashing down our heads with a twist that left us ready to change our locks.

Great vacation read!
Fast reading. I enjoyed!
Great ending
Keep in mind this book is longer than most of the 300-400 page books I normally read. With that said, it was a very slow start. Once the climax came it was GREAT!! Twists and turns that had my jaw dropping. I ended the book extremely satisfied. Don’t let the slow start stop you.
