Publisher Description
Some viruses go after the body. But the Nightmare Virus goes after the mind.
When dream technology goes wrong, a virus spreads across the globe, trapping people in a universal dreamscape. They call it the Nightmare Virus.
Cain Cross is determined to find a cure . . . if he can decipher his brother's chicken-scratch formula notes. But when he gets infected, he has only 22 days until he's trapped in the mental prison forever. Now, every time he falls asleep, he must fight in a Nightmare Arena until he earns his freedom to live in the "new world" that exists only in the mind.
Then he finds a way to manipulate the Nightmare—to change it by mere thought.
Forced to navigate a world of nightbeasts, mistblades, and half-truths, Cain turns his focus to survival. When the Emperor offers him a LifeSuPod—and access to a cure—in exchange for a dangerous favor, Cain thinks he's found a way out. But Cain's new power threatens to take him on paths that jeopardize his very soul.
Will he continue searching for a cure, or will he swear allegiance to the Nightmare? And the bigger question might be . . . will he even have a choice?

Light vs Darkness
Wow, I don’t even know the best words to describe this book.
It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. By the description about the book and the different posts Nadine has posted on Instagram, I really was hoping for deep, spiritual aspects that I could take and apply to my life. (I love doing that with fictional stories - it’s the best!) The Nightmare Virus seemed to promise that this would be the book to do just that. And it was - just not in the way I expected, but also in every way I could have dreamed. (no pun intended, *wink) The mind is so fascinating - God truly is an amazing Creator. Even so, subjects from the secular world like Ready Player 1, etc. are intriguing and I love the idea, but I shy away from them due to ALL darkness with no light - why would I entertain myself with those stories just to fill my head with darkness? - it would just make me depressed. But Nadine’s The Nightmare Virus is different. When I began to read it, it was dark - darkness plays a big part in this book - but I knew with Nadine being a Believer of Jesus Christ (along with her promises on Instagram) I knew there was going to be Light. So I stayed for the ride. I’m glad I did. I never knew what was going to happen next. I was surprised and shocked at parts, amazed and bewildered, and there were a few times I said out loud “I knew it!”
Many people may disagree, but I think the ending was very good. It was reality. Sin has consequences and others have to live with those consequences whether they are responsible for them or not. The ending displayed Nadine’s wisdom in storytelling. If I knew the ending at the beginning of the book, I would have probably thought it should have ended differently, but I believe I have grown WITH this book and its characters - so now I can be at peace knowing it is the best ending for this story and it couldn’t have ended better any other way.
Thank you, Nadine, for an amazing read. The spiritual lessons were enlightening and your open display of true Christianity was inspiring!
Compelling story.
A creative, imaginative story much different than expected. I loved the themes of good vs. evil and truth vs. lies.
