The Normal Eye

Historically one of the most common lenses in amateur and commercial photography, the 50mm, one of several fixed-focal-point lenses termed "normal" (since it most closely replicates the proportions seen by the human eye), has come into lesser use than the zooms and telephotos now typically sold with many digital cameras. However, this simple bit of "glass" yields a wide variety of amazing uses, including unparalleled, distortion-free performance in low light and portraiture work. In this new study, Michael Perkins shares his year-long project to shoot a wide variety of subjects exclusively with this "normal eye", in an effort to re-aquaint readers with its wonderful versatility and beauty.
