Wonderful Contemporary Romance!
As a fan of Sherry Thomas' historical romances, I was very excited to see her branch out into the genre of contemporary romance. I was certainly not disappointed! I was charmed and delighted by this book. I loved the main characters, as well as some of the secondary ones. The imperfections of both Bennett and Evangeline only made them more likable. The storyline kept me interested, and the chemistry between the two main characters was fantastic! The descriptions of the settings were vivid and enhanced the story.
Evangeline Canterbury and Bennett Somerset come across one another after spending a memorable night together several months earlier. Bennett, who was disowned years ago, badly wants to reconcile with his parents. Evangeline is exactly the type of woman they would select for him, so she soon agrees to enter into a pretend relationship with him. From this point, nothing goes quite as Evangeline expects. As feelings for one another deepen, Evangeline isn't willing to open up and put her heart on the line.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was the banter between the two main characters. I thought they had great dialogue, and I loved Eveline's dry sense of humor and the witty things she said. Bennett always took her teasing well and had some wonderful comebacks for her. These two characters were fantastic together, and I loved reading their story! I hope that Thomas will soon take another foray into the contemporary romance genre!
