George Hormel founded the George A. Hormel and Company meat packing business in Austin, MN in 1891. What he started was built on strong family values and an appreciation for hard work. His life experiences and the people he encountered leading up to his settling in Minnesota gave Hormel the foundation from which to launch an enterprise that would serve him, his family, his community, and the world. Hormel's business sense is remarkable, but his interest in people is what made him a man of integrity and one to be emulated.
