Publisher Description

"Hell 1.0 will force even the most superficial mind to question their morality and take stock of their lives. This book will challenge readers. Seriously, I'm trying to sift through my thoughts on it and it's got me going nuts."

-Shay Festa, Goodreads

Paul awakes after his car crashes into a ravine and is met by a man who informs him of his death and new home.

After more than 40 years, Paul's guide has grown weary of evil and savagery. With an unbroken innocent man's help, can the misery of Hell be defeated?

Expand the world of Jean Paul Sartre's "No Exit" to thousands of the damned, then take the walls away.
Let people choose their own company and discover that Hell is still a prison.

This is The Other Place - Hell 1.1 by William Jacobs.

The combination of evil and eternity in all its undiscovered, miserable facets are suffered by three men on a journey hoping to build a better society among themselves.

Ethics, religion, the role of faith and the absence thereof, in time without end, bring the reader a Hell as cruel as the brimstone and lava we expect, hidden by sadistic subtlety.

"Hell is other people," said Sartre.
Strip away the walls and that truth remains.

ADVISORY: This novel contains scenes of prejudice, profanity, graphic violence, and sexual predation.

A New Concept On Hell

This book tells the story of a man who was arrogant and selfish in his life, dies, and finds himself in Hell. In the story, Hell is redefined in a way that has never been imagined before. The main character, Paul, learns how to survive in Hell with the new order of how things work. In the process, he befriends Gray, a soft spoken yet hardened man in a natural leadership role. Gray patiently instructs Paul in the ways of Hell and together, with Andrew and Cassie, undertakes a recovery mission to save a female from a tribe. Through the course of the story, more underlining details of each characters old life and current life are explained. Ultimately, the mission is to return the female to her “home” and everyone learns more about themselves in the end.

Personally, I found this book intriguing. There were new concepts in this novel that had me constantly thinking. While this type of story is not my average cup of tea, I could not stop reading it. I had to finish to the end and see how the story ended. Reaching the end, I felt like I needed more. I worried about Paul. I was curious how the other characters would continue on for eternity. I found the flow from the chapters were well blended and seamless.

The character of Gray was a huge asset to the story. He had so much knowledge and was very mellow. Almost like he had paid his penance and no longer belonged in Hell. As the reader, I kept thinking there might be a chance for Gray and possibly Paul, with as close as they had come in the like-minded thinking to some degrees, to find a way out of Hell.

Overall, this was quite an amazing read. As I said before, this is not my usual reading material, but I couldn’t stop reading it. The concepts the writer created for Hell, for the inhabitants, for the main characters and their missions; absolutely amazing. Honestly, I really enjoyed reading this book. I would give a five star review on this material. I also want to add I hope there is a second book to this, to give the reader some insight into what happened.
