The Other Side of the Median

Early every morning, before even the first, red moon finished rising above the horizon of his farm, Jaime Marquez worked - wanting a better life for his son than the one he himself had been allotted at birth. Then Jaime’s mind opened to the other world.

Jaime is the only one who can see it, when he closes his eyes. His family knows nothing about it; they see only their own world. Jaime sees the other. It’s all he can think about, all he wants. Jaime decides. He has to escape.

“The Other Side of the Median” is a science fiction story that takes place in the context of two unique cultural backdrops. It was inspired by the work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
