The Outside Man
The fight for freedom has sent Matt Drake to some of the world's most dangerous spots. This time the war is coming to his front door in an electrifying thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of Tom Clancy Target Acquired and Hostile Intent.
Broad daylight on an Austin, Texas, street and DIA operative Matt Drake is fighting for his life against a highly trained team of assassins. Who are they? Why do they want him dead? How will he protect those closest to him?
The answers will take him into some of the most dangerous spots in the Middle East and will put him in the clutches of an old foe known simply as the Devil. It's a world of double crosses, with no boundaries between the guilty and the innocent. It will take all of Drake's wiles to get out alive.
Bentley's disappointing sequel to 2020's Without Sanction pits former Defense Intelligence Agency operative Matt Drake, who's living with his wife in Austin, Tex., against an old nemesis known as the Devil, a ruthless crime lord profiting from the chaos in Syria and Iraq. After an assassination attempt in broad daylight on the streets of Austin, Drake still suffering from PTSD and struggling to find a sense of normalcy in his life attempts to locate the Devil to enact vengeance. In his search, he stumbles across a sex trafficking operation run by the Middle Eastern crime boss and vows to kill him and free the enslaved women. Drake embarks on a predictable mission filled with nonstop action replete with techno jargon and an irritatingly machismo fueled POV. The casual xenophobia ("Time to fuck up some Iranians") and stereotypical treatment of most of the female characters (the female Air Force pilot's call sign is "Pom Pom") will strike some readers as outdated and clich . Still, action thriller fans may want to check this one out.
It’s still personal and getting more personal
Just as intense, just as personal, Drake is just as awesome.
Continuing to go after the man that almost killed him several times, Matt Drake is back on the job, back in the Middle East, back in the thick of it. This time The Devil (Mr Suave) takes it more personal and Matt has to up the risk, up the vengeance, and up his game.
I look forward to more but will miss someone.
Another great read. From beginning to end. Well done
The outside Man
I rely on posts from other readers to acquire new authors.
Whenever I read a very good book I write a review. This was the second Matt Drake book I have read and both have been excellent.
Action, story line, good vs evil. Well done.
