"THE SELECTION meets TWILIGHT in this dazzling vampire romance!"
"Without a doubt my favorite series ever!" - Amazon Reviewer
Who's the fairest of them all?
Young women from every settlement in the land are being handpicked to enter The Pageant, a contest reminiscent of Miss Universe from the old days. Gwyneth West's social-climbing mother wants her to compete, but Gwyn isn't so sure...
The Pageant is government-sponsored. If you're lucky enough to be chosen, participation is mandatory. Aggressive competition is allowed, even encouraged.
And then there's the prize...
Dallas Black, otherwise known as The Dark Prince, will propose to the winner. Dallas is the son of King Black, who won the last world war and governs the new settlements.
The Royal Family is mysterious. Rumor has it they don't sleep. Rumor has it they eschew the sun. Rumor has it they're immortal.
When Gwyn is thrust into The Pageant, she fights to survive the competitive nature of the other contestants.
But even if she wins...can she survive a vampire fiancé?

Parallel plot to the selection series
This was a really great book but if you’ve read the selection you basically already know the plot points. If you are considering reading the selection but prefer vampires this is definitely the series for you. I still gave it 4 stars because I felt like it was written well and it held my attention. I also felt that the prince had a slightly more consistent character development than in the selection. Overall I would recommend it.
Fir fans of twilight and the selection
The main female lead is a bit annoying but relatable. The vampire prince is an absolute heartthrob. If you love the selection but also love vampires then look no further this should be your next read. Well written, easy to follow along with, good story line.
Extraneous information overload
This book dragged on. It took FOREVER to get into the actual story. Extraneous information. Had potential. I found myself scrolling through just trying to find text.
