The Passionate King

It is a fictional tale that is part of a series I'm writing that includes Ludwig II as the main protagonist. In the first book, it is mainly the introduction of characters and the description of a hotel that he helped finance on the Königsee, in Bavaria. It is on this spot where I feel Ludwig could have built a beautiful castle in the most picturesque place you could lay your eyes on. The cover photo was taken by me, near the Archenkanzler, high above the lake below.

The narrator is a butler of the hotel who writes this story after the King's death. The first part of the story takes place in 1861, and ends in 1867, and includes quite a few true historical events. The hotel however, is fictional.. The rest of the series will detail the years following, and eventually I will create one book containing all of the parts.

It started out vastly different than what it started as. The first part ended up being a lot of like a delightful study of the arts. There are also witches, a lot of talking about Goethe and Faust, and a lot of other subjects.
