Not so
…perfect a life, that is. This is a chilling psychological thriller with plenty of puzzling happenings.
Whatever I remark on, it might be a spoiler. Suffice it to say that I devoured this book in a day and could hardly bear to put it down for a half hour.
It did start a bit slowly and heavily, with a lot of repetition about the protagonist’s feelings.
The solutions to some of the puzzles were ingenious. I did not like the huge mistake made by the police near the end; it is a cliché by now. Everyone knows you don’t let the suspect in your grasp go anywhere by themselves for any reason!
I wish editors and/or proofreaders knew the difference between “disinterested” and “uninterested.”
And the expression is “lie low,” not “lay low.” But overall, the text was proofread well.
I am in awe of this author’s imagination and her output!
