The Phoenix

Lucinda God-Smasher wants nothing more than to return to the woman she once was: Lucinda Land-Stepper, the wanderer of the Stone Island, going the way the wind blows. But she knows that first she must right the wrongs she herself has caused and restore peace to the Stone Island.

With her companion, the erstwhile knight Sowunmi, she seeks the wisdom and knowledge she must have to ensure justice is done—but discovers that she will have to leave behind both God-Smasher and Land-Stepper to become the woman who can stop the gods.

Despite all of the problems she has caused through her certainty that she is doing the right thing, she will have to learn to trust herself—and her companion Sowunmi—even as she contemplates doing the unthinkable to save the world she loves from the one who will destroy it.
