Terrific historical fiction!
I really enjoyed this insightful imaginative story. It brings real people that were "characters" in their era into a tale well told that captures the reader.
The character of the jazz singer, Althea Bix, was great -- but I wondered if she was another of Mazel's inventions, or was she a real person? Actually I did a Google search, but I'll leave the answer to readers of this fine piece. Mixing fiction with history is a fine art, and Mazel works magic with the mixture. Highly recommended.
