All Presidents have nightmares. This one is about to come true.
A rocket ride of a thriller—the #1 New York Times bestselling blockbuster by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson, “the dream team” (Lee Child).
Every detail is accurate—
because one of the authors is President Bill Clinton.
The drama and action never stop—
because the other author is James Patterson.
Matthew Keating, a one-time Navy SEAL—and a past president—has always defended his family as staunchly as he has his country. Now those defenses are under attack.
A madman abducts Keating’s teenage daughter, Melanie—turning every parent’s deepest fear into a matter of national security. As the world watches in real time, Keating embarks on a one-man special-ops mission that tests his strengths: as a leader, a warrior, and a father.
The authors’ first collaboration, The President Is Missing, a #1 New York Times bestseller and the #1 bestselling novel of 2018, was praised as “ambitious and wildly readable” (New York Times Book Review) and “a fabulously entertaining thriller” (Pulitzer Prize–winning author Ron Chernow).
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Nobody writes slicker thrillers than James Patterson, and no ex-president is a bigger thriller fan than Bill Clinton. Their second book together is the ultimate tale of international intrigue, with plenty of insider White House details. President Matt Keating is a former Navy SEAL whose super-tough attitude cost him his second term. But Libyan madman Asim Al-Asheed still wants revenge for Keating killing his family during a SEAL raid. The terrorist’s brutal revenge comes with the kidnapping of Keating’s teenage daughter, Melanie. That sets off an awesomely tense chase around the globe, as the former commander in chief takes matters into his own hands—along with a whole bunch of top-secret military hardware. Patterson and Clinton clearly love the whole badass-president subgenre of political thrillers, and the fun they’re having is infectious. If you’ve got an afternoon by the pool in your future, pack this and the sunscreen.
A former American president turns action hero in Clinton and Patterson's disappointing follow-up to their bestselling The President Is Missing. President Matt Keating, who was vice president when his predecessor died from natural causes, orders an operation targeting an Islamic terrorist, Asim Al-Asheed, at his Libyan compound. Al-Asheed survives the attack, but his wife and three daughters are killed. During the next election cycle, Keating's vice president, Pamela Barnes, successfully challenges him and is elected president. After Keating leaves the White House, Al-Asheed abducts Keating's 19-year-old daughter, Melanie, while she's hiking in New Hampshire. Al-Asheed announces three conditions for Melanie's safe return: freeing three of his comrades, a full pardon for crimes he may or may not have committed against Americans, and $100 million in bitcoin. Melanie's mother, Samantha, distrusts President Barnes's promises to do everything possible to rescue the teen, and ultimately Keating, a former Navy SEAL, must take action himself. The authors don't sweat the details (when Melanie's kidnapped, Keating and Samantha, who are in different places, don't try to contact each other), and too many convenient coincidences propel the plot. Die-hard Patterson fans will best appreciate this one. Agents: Robert Barnett and Deneen Howell, Williams & Connolly.
The President’s Daughter Review
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars because it has its good things but it also has its flaws. I loved that it was jam-packed with action and you could really feel the emotions throughout the novel. What I disliked was that in some bits, I couldn’t understand exactly what was happening until the end which pieced it all together. Overall, this is a pretty good book!
