The Prince

The Prince by Italian diplomat and historian Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527) is a classic work of political theory. The book itself has been called “the world’s longest cover letter” since it is written as an application for employment with the ruling Medici family in Florence.


This edition of the book is devoted to the Europa Universalis IV computer game by Paradox Interactive. It includes a preface by Studio Manager Johan Andersson with advice on how to apply Machiavelli’s  teachings to this very complex and multi-layered game.


“Machiavelli’s advice on relying too heavily on someone else’s armies, or the proper occasions to break a promise you made to a friend will certainly be worth keeping in mind as you navigate the maze of Central European imperial politics”, Andersson writes.
