Publisher Description
For Rylan Greene and me, it was simple. Love only got us so far.
I’ve known him since we were six, long before he became the professional soccer star he is now. We’ve weaved in and out of one another’s lives as rivals, teammates, friends, and lovers. Until three years ago, when my life took a hit and I ran back to my small Alaskan town, Lake Starlight, away from anything or anyone that could hurt me.
He’s never far from my mind, a constant pining ache in my heart, but I’ve convinced myself I’m better off. But now, my best friend announces her engagement and that means Rylan will return home to stand as best man to her fiancé.
He’ll be back in my orbit for three whole weeks… but I can easily keep my distance. Sure, we’ll have to walk arm in arm down the aisle together, he’ll hold me close during the bridal party dance and we’ll stand for pictures next to each other. Nothing I can’t handle.
I’m so naïve though because he’s not in town for more than twenty-four hours before he knocks on my door. I should know by now, that the two of us will never be finished business.
This second chance romance spans sixteen years of a true love match that proves these two will only ever belong to one another.

At last!
Rylan and Calista have grown up before our eyes as each of his older siblings have found their own HEAs. So to see them together, and apart, as adults was a story I didn’t want to miss. And it was definitely worth the wait and fulfilled all my expectations.
Not only do Greene family members make appearances, but my original loves…the Bailey family…is along for the ride, too. I’ve always loved that Ry and Calista were the bridge between two fantastic family series.
And those crazy geriatric meddlers are back as well, so it's full circle for the beginning of this new aeries. There’s no lost of love between Rylan and Calista, just disappointments and lots of fragile emotions. It’s heartbreaking but I enjoyed their journey back to each other and the growth as a couple and individuals.
FINALLY!! Rylan & Calista
Their story was better than I ever could have imagined…I laughed, I cried and my heart is so happy!! I love how Grandma Dori and Ethel were tied into it even though they had both passed and the new gang was ready to take over where they left off. This book was perfection and I’m so glad the Bailey’s and Greene’s story lines aren’t completely over yet!! I can’t wait to read more of the Lake Starlight books! Thank you Piper Rayne for giving us Rylan and Calista’s HEA!!
Loved Calista and Rylan
The Problem With Second Chances is the first book in the Lake Starlight series, and it didn’t disappoint. This storyline was on a higher level of angst from the authors and I wasn’t mad at it. It has all the tropes: sports romance (soccer) young love, high school sweethearts, second chance, small town, friends to lovers, right person wrong time and forced proximity.
Ugh, this book. It was so raw, emotional, gut wrenching at times. Calista and Rylan had been in each others lives since the young of six. They were friends, competitors, each others first on many things, and lovers. They both had big dreams and didn’t want to hold each other back, so they were in and out of each others lives through college and adulthood. But, how do you forget someone who is etched into your soul? We see them try to navigate these muddied waters. But time and circumstances aren’t always on their side. We see the love, the hurdles, the struggles, the sacrifices, the pining from each of them. Each suffering, but also longing, and loving each other from afar. Loved seeing the family banter, dynamics, and how her grandmother does everything she can to help her. Then ending, was a chefs kiss. A definite TBR must. The audiobook narration by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden was excellent. Two familiar voices who always draw you in and keep a hold on you with their character changes and emotions the put into the body of work. Great listen
