The Puzzle Boy

Set in 1980s Atlanta, Georgia, this story follows Sheldon, a Black boy raised in the Hekau Society — a tight-knit community of neo-Kemetics who worship ancient Egyptian gods, read hieroglyphics, and follow sacred rituals passed down for generations. To Sheldon, this way of life is more than tradition — it's truth, beauty, and identity. But when his summer takes a dark turn, he's forced to attend Camp Kemet, a harsh and abusive religious camp that tries to "correct" his beliefs.
