It is also where the foreign-born dragon Duke Rodgardae Leonteinparre, on loan from his country the Isle of Watt as part of a complicated political and military agreement with Kaaltendt, has been newly stationed as the Fort Master of Endestern. His mate and guardian, Mani Roki, is also a stranger in a strange land.

As Emperor Rhezv of the distant but massive country of Iskaryyva rattles his sabre, threatening both the Isle of Watt and Kaaltendt with his crazed quest for world domination, Agadart finds herself in a complicated dance with two men who see something more in her than she ever expected might exist.
