The Race Into Space

Back in the early 1970s opening a box of tea was a small adventure and something to look forward to if you collected the small cards from inside packets of loose tea.

The Brooke Bond Race Into Space set could not have come at a better time for me, as I had followed the all the space-shots from Apollo 8 onwards and enthusiastically wanted to know more on the subject.

As a stand alone piece of information, the card set is concise, giving a very good overview of the space technology of the day and a fair glimpse into the near future, superbly illustrated with a defined focus on vehicles worldwide. Prior to this collection, I had been unaware other countries outside America & Russia had satellites or rockets or indeed any interest launching anything in space.

In tribute to the Race Into Space set this book republishes the cards and articles, which breathes new life into a set of cards originally published over forty years ago.
