Uhhhhh ok
Ok book. Sure wish the original John Grisham would return. But this is not his worst but not a favorite..... still a good read.

The story was so incredible until the last 25 pages. The build up is amazing and as I read with the inability to put it down I get to the end to be completely disappointed. Not John’s best work.
Very slow moving novel. I put it down many times but would force myself to read to the end. I expected much more from John Grisham. I’ve read all his books and enjoyed the story lines. This was sad from beginning to end. The demise of a family. Would never recommend this to any one.
The big ending was a huge letdown and the war stories were unnecessary.
Not a bad story, but would have been much better told as a short story. Drags on and on and I had to force myself to finish the book.
I think JG might finally have run out of good books to write, which is too bad because I really enjoy most of his books, but the last few have been extremely disappointing.
This was a tough read. It was disturbing on several levels, including a deep pessimism. I am no stranger to hard facts of life, but after reading the end of this book I felt dreadful.
I was really into this book...Grisham, as always, does an amazing job with characterization, complication and all the wonderful details that support. I kept believing that with every page I turned I was getting closer to an amazing climax / end to the story...one that I could never imagine. Imagine my surprise (think loud “thud”) when the ending was amazingly mundane and predictable beyond belief.
I stayed up late several nights to read this book. I’d like all of my zzzz’s back Mr. Grisham. Oh, and at least half of my $14.99 while you are at it.
On a positive note...I loved “A Painted House”. The book. Never saw the movie.
Really wanted this to be a good book and it started so well. Less than halfway through and it became random tangents and got darker and darker. Actually thought I wouldn’t finish it but I did and did not come close to enjoying the left field ending.
This was one of the most tedious books ever! Absolutely painful to finish. On and on and on about nothing that had to do with the story. John Grisham I want my money back!
I believe I have read every Grisham book! I normally love Grisham but this book was disappointing! The book leaves you hanging! Now what? Grisham can do lot’s better! Rooster Bar blows this always!
