The Red Inn

A famous Parisian banker is entertaining a German business acquaintance. A member of the party asks that the guest of honor relate "another dreadful, thrilling German story." He tells them the true story of two French soldiers who were in a small town on the Rhine at the time of an unsolved murder. Although the visitor doesn't realize the fact, the story has a direct bearing on M. Taillefer and his fortune.
