A #1 New York Times bestseller!
“A rip-roaring adventure merged with satisfying romance.” —Entertainment Weekly
“[A] swashbuckling launch to the Eldest Curses series.” —Publishers Weekly
From #1 New York Times bestseller Cassandra Clare and award-winner Wesley Chu comes the first book in a new series full of “swoon-worthy romance [and] abundant action” (Publishers Weekly). The Red Scrolls of Magic is a Shadowhunters novel.
All Magnus Bane wanted was a vacation—a lavish trip across Europe with Alec Lightwood, the Shadowhunter who against all odds is finally his boyfriend. But as soon as the pair settles in Paris, an old friend arrives with news about a demon-worshipping cult called the Crimson Hand that is bent on causing chaos around the world. A cult that was apparently founded by Magnus himself. Years ago. As a joke.
Now Magnus and Alec must race across Europe to track down the Crimson Hand before the cult can cause any more damage. Demons are now dogging their every step, and it is becoming harder to tell friend from foe. As their quest for answers becomes increasingly dire, Magnus and Alec will have to trust each other more than ever—even if it means revealing the secrets they’ve both been keeping.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The Red Scrolls of Magic stars two of our favorite characters from Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunters fantasy series: Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. Early in the couple’s relationship, a dreamy Paris vacation is cut short by the fiendish actions of a diabolical demon-worshipping cult called the Crimson Hand—which Magnus himself founded years before as a joke. Action meets romance as the magic-wielding lovers race across Europe to track down the mysterious group. Clare and her coauthor, Wesley Chu, explore a different dimension of the Shadowhunters universe with this rollicking first book in the Eldest Curses trilogy.

This was a great read, I’ve been a fan of this world for a while now. I caught up and read the last few Mortal Instruments books as they came out, Alec was my favorite through those and Magnus as well. This book was well written and very interesting. The plot was engaging and there were twists that I did not see coming. Excited to see what this series awaits.
This book is an incredible window into the relationship of Alec and Magnus. It is heartwarming, truly touching, and a very good read. This is the kind of book that makes you fall in love with love. Would 100% recommend for those Shadowhunter fans out there!
